10 decorating hacks for your tiny bedroom
Published on January 11, 2018
Turn your small, snug bedroom into a relaxing retreat with these decorating hacks.
1. Hang your lamp:
This way, you can skip the bedside table or just keep the space free.
2. Use a daybed:
It will make your room feel more like a small lounge, instead of a tiny bedroom that’s been taken over by a bed. Daybeds also often come with built-in storage — a welcome bonus for a small room.
3. Get furniture that’ll do double duty:
A console table that doubles as a shelf and a desk and is perfect for when you want breakfast in bed, will save you a lot of room.
4. Use the desk as a bedside table:
Unless you’re a serious gamer, this will be a great space saver.
5. Reuse old drawers:
Turn them into stackable shelves. Paint them in nice bright colors, offset your bed from the wall and voila, you have your very own built-in closet!
6. Look for storage in unusual places:
Make your headboard work as a bedside table, a bookcase as well as of course, a headboard.
7. Keep window treatments to a minimum:
This will help you let maximum natural light in and keep the room unfussy. Plain roller blinds should work fine.
8. Trick the eye with mirrors:
A mirrored wall will visually double the space. You could also try replacing your closet doors with mirrored ones, especially those from floor to ceiling and wall to wall.
9. Go white:
Keeping walls and linen white will make your bedroom look bigger. Add a pop of color by painting just one wall, throwing in a colorful rug or trying a unique wallpaper pattern.
Use a console to divide your bedroom into a sleeping and lounging space.
Bigger need not always be better. Home hunting? We’ve got properties roomy enough to make you forget you have just one room.
