Top pet-friendly communities in Dubai

We all know that Dubai isn’t necessarily first thought of as being a fur friendly city – especially during the hotter summer months – but this isn’t necessarily the case. With many expats opting for an adopt don’t shop approach thanks to organisations like SNIFF helping them find their furry forever friend, Dubai actually has more pet friendly locations that you’d think.

Zoom Property, the latest data-driven property portal on the market, has shared their most pet-friendly communities with us, so you can find the perfect home in Dubai. This list is based on the accessibility to pet stores, grooming centres and vet clinics, as well as leash-free dog parks and pet-friendly apartments.

Number One: Jumeirah
A classic dog-lovers’ hangout, Jumeirah continues to be one of the most pet friendly communities in the city. Several restaurants even allow doggies to accompany their owners on the premises, and some even serve dog treats. There are several places to walk your dog, including beach paths, strip malls, and dog parks. Also, if you are planning on staying in one of the many villas that dot the community, your pet will have ample space to romp around in the backyard.

Vet clinics:

Number Two: Mirdif
Slightly further out, but a quiet, tranquil location, Mirdif is another perfect place for pets. There are several pet-friendly apartment buildings in the community, as well as large villas which offer tons of space. Plus, Mushrif park is a stone’s throw away, and home to a popular dog park. Mirdif is also close to the enormous Birds and Animal market in Al Warsan, which is a pet-lover’s (and indeed, a pet’s) paradise. A plethora of shops will ensure all your pet’s needs are met, while large patches of grass offer a place for pet owners and their furry companions to socialise.

Number Three: The Greens
The archetype of a pet-friendly community in Dubai, the Greens has no shortage of walkways, paths and lakes for you and your dog to explore. The entire community is generally very pet-friendly (and very forgiving of a midnight bark or two). There is even a leash-free dog park where you can let your pooch run wild.

Vet clinics:
Al Barsha Veterinary Clinic

Pet stores:

Number Four: The Meadows, The Springs and The Lakes
Large villas mean lots of room in the backyard, and an ample porch is perfect for those lazy, sunbathing communities. While there is currently no dog park here, the entire community is very accepting of dogs, and these pups can be walked on several paths along in neighbourhood. The community is quite self-contained, and has its own pet stores, veterinary clinics and even a pet-sitting centre.

Number Five: The Palm Jumeirah
Who wouldn’t love to live beside the seaside, and that includes your gorgeous pets too! With numerous options for villas and apartments there are plenty of choices for home hunters. Al Ittihad Park is located in between the Golden Mile and the Shoreline, which is ideal for walking dogs, and set in a pretty landscaped garden. After your walk you can head over to Vista Mare, where many of the restaurants welcome four-legged friends to dine alfresco during the cooler months.
