Dubai Desert Road Run
Feel like working up a sweat? The Desert Road Run may be right up your alley. The run is suited to almost everyone in the running community, be it casual, social runners to some of the country’s top athletes.
There are two distances (10km and 3km), run on private roads and starts and begins at the Sevens stadium. There are medals for all participants, along with a raffle draw and even trophies for the top finishers.
Eid al Fitr
Eid al Fitr marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan, and is a time for family, feasting and joy, so get together with loved ones and enjoy the various events and activities that will take place all around the city from 14-16 June. The kids are sure to enjoy the special events at Children’s City, and will love the live My Little Pony performance at Dragon Mart. Most of Dubai’s malls will also have tons of roaming entertainment and, for the shopaholics, amazing Eid deals and sales.
The 2018 FIFA World Cup
Every four years, something magical happens. The FIFA World Cup is, without a doubt, the biggest and the most highly anticipated sporting event in the world, and is sure to having all of Dubai’s football fans glued to their screens. But for those who wish to simulate the atmosphere of a stadium, or simply want more company while cheering their favourite teams on, there are other ways to watch the games. There’s the dedicated World Cup tent at Fairmont The Palm, with a giant screen, servers dressed as referees bringing you nachos, popcorn shrimp and beef sliders. This month is going to be a melodious one! A string of world-class singers and musicians are set to perform in June. Acclaimed Syrian singer Assala Nasri will provide enthralling entertainment, with her rendition of a number of songs in the traditional tarab style. Next up are the award-winning duo, Bruno Vlahek and Dubravka Vukalovic, who will be performing at the Dubai Opera. The dazzling sounds of Chabrier, Saint-Saens, Ravel, Granados and de Falla are an unmissable experience. And then there’s famous Iraqi singer Mohamed Al Salim, performing his all-time hits like ‘Naam Enta’ and ‘Zak men Zak’.
